COVID-19 Protocols & Requirements on Disney Cruise Ships

Disney Cruise Lines is always updating their COVID-19 protocols and requirements when it comes to their cruise line. They want to make sure that their guests, cast members and crew are safe and healthy.

This is the latest update from November 18, 2021 and we felt like it would be an important topic to cover. Disney Cruise Line is requiring all guests to be fully vaccinated, based on U.S. eligibility and requirements. Make sure you have your negative COVID-19 test ready, as Disney has recently stated on their cruise line website.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status and Testing

“All Guests, regardless of age and vaccination status, are required to take a COVID-19 test (paid for by Disney Cruise Line and administered by Inspire Diagnostics) at the terminal before boarding. This will be the second of two COVID-19 PCR tests required for unvaccinated Guests. Guests with positive COVID-19 test results—as well as those sharing the same stateroom and their close contacts—will be denied boarding.”

Requirements for being fully vaccinated are for guests ages 5 and up for all sailing in January 2022 and after. It’s important to take note of this if you’re planning your vacation with Disney Cruise Line, you don’t want to show up and not meet these requirements as you won’t be allowed to board.

However, “Guests who are not vaccine-eligible because of age must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date. Guests ages 5 through 11 may complete this testing requirement in lieu of being fully vaccinated for sailings that depart before January 13, 2022. Guests 4 years of age and under must complete the testing requirements. The test should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test or lab-based PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted.”

Changes to Disney Cruse Line

We know there’s a lot of information to remember right now, a lot has changed over the last two years. It’s important to know this information before you book your vacation with Disney Cruise Line. This is because you don’t want to end up in a situation where you’re not able to go on your cruise. It’s also recommended that for other cruise lines, you check in with them as well if you’re planning a cruise with another company.

So what else is going to be different on Disney Cruise Line? In keeping with the health and safety aspect we have to look at what they are doing to achieve this. Disney recently posted to their website that “the health and safety of our Guests, Cast Members and Crew Members is a top priority. Our focus remains on operating our ships in a responsible way that continues to create magic for all on board.”

Disney is also making sure that they follow the guidance from the CDC and other medical experts. By doing this they’ve been able to “reimagined” their guests cruise experience so that everyone can enjoy the magic of Disney at sea.

Enhanced Health and Safety Measures

There are five elements that Disney has implemented that they hope will maintain the health and safety of all Guests, Cast Members and Crew.

  1. Health and Wellness
  2. Enhanced Cleaning
  3. Innovative Technology
  4. Crew Member Training
  5. Working Together

Each of these elements are there to make sure that everyone has a magical experience while onboard. There are also somethings that you need to know as you prepare for you cruise as recommended by Disney Cruise Line.
